When I was a teenager, I always had this conversation with myself… Should I listen to my heart or my head? This was one of my greatest struggles.
We live in a world that is becoming increasingly full of distractions and opinions. Everything around us seems to aim to over stimulate or dull the mind. The advancement of technology has affected our innate abilities. Easier access to information means we have lost touch with our own intuition. Therein lies this dilemma.
We are not trained to listen to our hearts. Instead, there is much emphasis on the mind. We are filled with so much intellectual knowledge that we are confusing ourselves. But it is because we do not know how the mind works.
Yes, the mind is the all powerful force which can affect matter. But did you know that matter also affects the mind? In fact, the mind actually gets its cue of what to think from the body. The mind and body are intrinsically connected.
Here are my top 5 Reasons Why You Should Listen to Your Heart:
- Your heart knows what your mind doesn’t
- Being able to listen to your heart is an important life skill for decision making
- The choice will always be the right choice
- You will realise that’s where joy and love resides
- There is scientific research why you should listen to your heart: https://www.mindbodygreen.com/0-11982/7-scientific-reasons-you-should-listen-to-your-heart-not-your-brain.html
It’s so funny how I used to spend my time reasoning the whys in my head when I always eventually went with the heart. It was in my teenage years that I decided that I would live a life without regret and I would choose to go with my heart. I didn’t know then what I was doing. Now, it’s known as tapping into the powers of trust and faith.
Trust and faith are not qualities of the mind but rather of the heart. I’m so thankful that I developed this skill. Listening to my heart all these years has led me on a whirlwind of adventures. Today, I am able to recognise how rich and full of love my life is.
